Vermiculite is a hydrous phyllosilicate mineral that is often used in gardening and potting plants. Vermiculite is used to amend soil to help with soil drainage and to help avoid bacterial and fungal issues. It is often included in mixes designed for seed germination and potting soil to help avoid root rot.
